about mrs. Smith
I love teaching math and science at Sycamore Canyon School! We have a top-notch staff in the middle school, one committed to making the subject relevant and ensuring success for each student. I have taught for 30 years, 26 years in this district, and 19 years at Sycamore Canyon School.
I have two children. Erica graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson with a business degree and has moved to Phoenix, now gainfully employed. Tyler graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in microbiology. He is preparing to apply to medical school.
My family loves to travel and cheer for the Dodgers, Rams and Seahawks. My husband and I love to visit baseball stadiums and national parks, to discover history, and to experience new places and cultures. My husband, son and daughter now enjoy scuba diving while I love to read, garden, play games, and learn new things. This summer my husband and I traveled to Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Seattle (where I was born) and Phoenix.

COMMUNICATION
Communication is the key to a successful academic school year. If you do not communicate with me that you are having difficulty in class, it may be too late before I recognize that you are struggling. Remember, I have about 100 students that I am responsible for, so I might not notice that you are struggling until you fall farther behind. We all learn at different paces and in different ways. Please do not hesitate to ask for some help!
